The Six story

"Six" is the tale of the wives of King Henry the 8th, who was a controversial king of England in the early 1500s. During his nearly 4 decades as king, he married six times. His demands to annul his first marriage saw the separation of the Church of England from papal authority. Many people probably have heard of the story of Henry VIII. However, you be as familiar with the story of his six wives. That’s where "Six" picks up.

The musical focuses on the story of these six queens as they sing about their individual experiences with the king. The queens compete for who had the roughest experience in living with the king. The queens discuss divorce, rejections, infidelity, and even beheadings in a way that makes you laugh while also touching your emotions. There is a relatable twist on the story by incorporating a dating app in a hilarious way.

Eventually, they realize that arguing over who had the toughest experience with Henry VIII is pointless. They eventually decide to think about how Henry VIII denied their individuality. They are not just the six wives of Henry VIII - they have their individual strengths that deserve celebrating. The ex-wives eventually come together to write new endings to their stories. They achieve their “happily ever afters” that Henry VIII denied them by dreaming of what their lives would’ve been like without marrying Henry VIII.
