All of this and more is told through {Hip-Hop|hip hop|, R&B, and typical-style musical numbers that have become instant hits in Broadway history.

This success in its storytelling and broadway score has led to the production winning 8 Drama Desk Awards, 11 Tony Awards, and a 2016 Pulitzer Prize.

Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote Hamilton in order to tell the story of "America then, as told by America now". Hamilton builds on this goal by casting ethinic minorities to act the America's Founding Fathers like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Alexander Hamilton. Trey Curtis, Jared Dixon, Tamar Greene, and Stephanie Jae Park are a few of the many minority performers who currently star in Hamilton.
