Hamilton at CIBC Theatre

Making its first appearance in in 2015 and performing for almost a decade, Hamilton took Broadway by storm with its innovative approach. Based on Ron Chernow’s biographical book about Alexander Hamilton, it tells the story of Alexander Hamilton’s early years and rise to one of the Founding Fathers of the USA. This is a profound story that is both creative and clever, Hamilton has been hailed as revolutionary in its storytelling and has influenced politics, culture, and education.

It was created by American composer and writer Lin-Manuel Miranda, famous for his achievements in movies, Broadway and more, also creating the music and lyrics for his former Broadway play In the Heights, another Tony award-winning spectacle, and is also responsible for the music and lyrics in many high profile musical movies such as Moana. The hit Broadway musical, featuring a mixed cast, has showtunes in a style that combines new genres like hip-hop, jazz, R&B, which has made Hamilton all the more innovative and engaging by bringing these genres to Broadway. Songs such as “Satisfied”, “Wait For It”, and “You’ll Be Back”, have become loved by many as Broadways best memorable songs from the production since its Broadway release. Lin-Manuel Miranda has said that his music inspiration for Hamilton came from top rap and hip hop rappers of USA, he wanted to marry the two different genres together in an unprecedented manner! The music of Hamilton are praised heavily by Illinois critics alike, as compared to other Broadway musicals produced today, Hamilton proves to be more fast-paced and engaging than many.

Hamilton has garnered a record-breaking 11 Tony Awards plus 16 Tony nominations, Olivier Awards, Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, and even a special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors. To date, Hamilton has achieved widespread success as it continues its global tour, including the continents of Europe and Asia.

Hamilton is coming to you this spring in CIBC Theatre, the top theater for the arts in Chicago, where former shows have been received incredibly well. Tickets for the Thursday 12th March 2026 showing are limited as Hamilton will only be running for a limited time in CIBC Theatre during March.
